Ok so I'm kind of making a theory regarding removing the stock air box for a "pop charger".
It's in regards to failing MAS.
I bought my Z almost 5 years ago, and it was completely stock. One of the 1st things I did was remove the stock air box and install a JWT pop. After some time of driving, my MAS died on me, so I put on a new (used) one. I'm starting to find out that that MAS may now be on its way (kept the JWT pop on for all this time).
Also, my brother had an Infiniti I35 (luxury not sport) and he installed a K&N aftermarket air filter and soon had MAS failure.
Now my theory is that these aftermarket filters are ruining the MAS, to be more particular, I'd say it was the oils they use on the filters. The Infiniti mechanics specifically told my brother his died because of the K&N.
NOW: what do you all think? I'm sure most of us have used the JWT (or similar) pop chargers and haven't had any MAS failures (yet).
